Kae would have pointed out that she did save him - and a lot of others - but she was a slight girl, and supporting nearly the whole of Mordria's curvy figure. It was akin to helping someone who was fall down drunk. Dria was only a little bit steadier than that.
She got the older woman settled on a cot and then left to go find Alexei. Kae wasn't certain if Mordria had meant literally or was just delirious, so she went off in search of Alexei.
The older man seemed to know exactly what it meant, though. He didn't explain anything, just stepped away as he went to find what she would need.
As it turned out, there was a small garden walk behind the farm house. It was a little over grown and obviously hadn't been regularly tended in a while, but it was fertile. Alexei returned inside and instructed Kae to carry the cot out behind him as he lifted Mordria to carry her out. He got her settled in the shade under an ivy arbor, adjusted so that her fingers were pressed into the dark soil near the roots, "See if you can find a hose or a sprinkler," Alexei murmured to Kae
They swerved a few times as Joe hit the back of Alexei's seat, but he held the vehicle on track and kept them going. They had fallen behind the rest in the process, though.
"Everyone alright back there?"
