He seemed to hesitate, looking almost annoyed, "Fine. Come on then," Alexei muttered as he went off on his original path to guide her into the main operations room where both Dag and Chuck were overseeing operations with their cohorts.
He shifted, jaw working briefly. They'd never met but Alexei knew who she was from the picture he knew Redford carried in the chest pocket over his heart any time he went out into the field, "Look, Alice, right?" he asked even though he knew damn well, "This isn't the kind of information I have liberty to divulge. I don't have that kind of rank. You're plenty safe for now, that's all I can say."
Alexei smirked as an opportunity presented, "Well then you'll be the lucky one if the Amazon there decides to play," he joked, drawing his feet in a little as he got ready to either duck something thrown or dodge Joe altogether.
Alexei nodded an affirmation, "We can get over the border easy enough without ever being seen. Figured its better than risking any contacts here. Plenty of the other handlers know the people we do, no way to tell if they'll stay quiet or flip us for a promotion."
