Harper cuddled in and was soon fast asleep.

Back in the compound Seth grunted as his back hit the ground, knocking the breath out of him for what felt like the thousandth time that day. He lay still for a few moments, trying to catch his breath again and summon the will to force his aching body back into motion. It wasn't long before Dagonet was nudging a boot into his side to prod him up.

Seth groaned as he rolled and stood. There wasn't really any reference for time down in the bunker but he was pretty sure it was passed nightfall. As he started to square up again he was silently praying for Chuck to appear and signal an end to this. Dagonet was a tough instructor and sympathy didn't seem to exist in his vocabulary. Seth was bruised, bloody, sporting a limp from twisting his knee earlier - but the older man hadn't let up on him any.

It would be as Dagonet made Seth hit the Matt again that Charlotte would come in. “That’s enough for today,” she said to them both. “You’re doing great,” she said as she offered her hand to help him up.

"It's hard I know and Dag is tough but you'll get the hang of it. You're already doing better than some recruits put up against him. Come on, lets get you to the infirmary to let one of the witches heal you."

"I guess I actually manage to get him off his feet sometimes," Seth murmured as he limped beside her. The problem was that he had to mix things up constantly to keep Dag from anticipating his moves - and he was still learning to do that swiftly where the other man didn't seem to have to think about it at all.

At first Seth made a sound in the back of his throat and rolled his shoulders. If he had one positive thing to say about the intense training regiment he'd been put on, it was that it kept him distracted - because when it quieted down at night and he was alone in his cot the depression and misery were almost unbearable. He missed Alice and his babies so bad it made him physically ill at times. He hadn't known it was even possible to feel so strongly about someone he'd never actually met before, but even thinking about little Reagan hurt.

Fortunately he was still completely in the dark about the reality of that situation. If Chuck had been open with him on that count, Seth would have bailed in half a heartbeat.

"I guess I'm managing alright," he answered. At least he'd get to see them again someday - he had to believe that to keep pushing.

When he saw who was waiting Seth tensed immediately. He started to balk, but Chuck flitted off before he could protest and he was left alone with the witch. For the moment he didn't speak, just eyed the red head with a measure of mistrustful hostility while silently weighing out whether or not he was uncomfortable enough to actually accept any sort of help from her.
